Black Panther Stuntman, Taraja Ramsess, and His Three Children Tragically Killed in Car Accident ‘He had a deep capacity for love and loved his children more than all’
Known for his immaculate stunts in Black Panther, Taraja Ramsess, 41, has tragically passed away in a car crash with his three children in Atlanta, Georgia.
According to Fox5Atlanta, “Investigators say Mr. Ramsess was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 when he collided with a tractor-trailer that had broken down in the left lane.”
Ramsess’ two daughters, Sundari, 13, and Fujibo, 8 weeks, also lost their lives in the crash. His 10-year-old son Kisasi succumbed to his injuries after being hospitalized in critical condition, as confirmed by his mother Akili Ramsess in a series of Instagram posts. Kisasi passed away several days later, on Sunday.
“My beautiful, loving, talented son Taraja @chop.saki, along with two of my grand babies, his 13 yo daughter Sundari and his 8-week-old newborn daughter Fujibo, were killed the previous night in a horrific traffic accident.”
She continued on, “He [had] a very droll yet wicked sense of humor & yet could be as cornball corny as can be. Sundari, Sunny as she was called, also reflected that special light. Funny & loved to dance. Oh God! I can’t believe they’re gone! We are grieving and remain prayerful for my grandchildren’s recovery. Thank you to so many who have already reached out with kind words and prayers.”
Director Ava Duvernay, who worked with Ramsess at her distribution company ARRAY, described Ramsess as a “leader” on Instagram.
“I remember one day on set, we didn’t have enough Black background actors for a key scene. I had to recruit my crew members to be on-camera. Taraja was the first to say yes. Yes, I’ll do my real job and then jump into this wild scene playing a tough guy with a gun for you. From there – everyone else said yes too.”
Ramsess initially launched his career as a set dresser, contributing to the production of films, such as Due Date (2010), Fast Five (2011), Lawless (2011), The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), and Furious 7 (2015). He also lent his expertise to various TV series, including The Vampire Diaries, The Walking Dead, and Constantine.
Approximately a decade ago, he transitioned into stunt work, accumulating a list of credits that encompassed movies like Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), What Men Want (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), The Suicide Squad (2021), Black Adam (2022), and They Cloned Tyrone (2023).
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with expenses.
