King Charles and Meghan Markle’s New Letters on Royal Racism
Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s tell-all interview, King Charles wrote several letters regarding comments about skin color.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down for their interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, shocking recollections were revealed.
The two royals who made comments about Archie’s skin colour have been revealed in letters between Meghan Markle and King Charles, Omid Scobie has claimed. https://t.co/CYJrzs8xws

One of these recollections included a conversation within the royal family about the couple’s son, Archie Harrison’s, skin color. A newly released book by Omid Scobie, titled Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival, sheds new light on the incident along with Buckingham Palace’s response.
One month after the couple’s interview, King Charles III reportedly wrote to Markle about how sad he was about how fractured the family was. In addition, the king expressed his regret about the couple revealing so much to the public.
Scobie’s new book reveals more details about the correspondence. In the book, Charles clarified that the comments weren’t “ill will” or “casual prejudice.”
Whether you like my work or loathe it, all I ask is that if you are reading coverage about what’s supposedly inside #ENDGAME, please also read the book itself. Incorrect and bad translations, snippets without context, leaks etc. do not tell the full or accurate story. Thank you

However, Markle disagreed with the king. She explained to him how the conversations were an example of “lingering unconscious bias and ignorance.” Scobie’s book shares that the two had a “respectful back-and-forth,” but the king and the Dutchess of Sussex disagreed about the remarks.
On the other hand, the letters gave the couple “a feeling that both had been heard.” King Charles is believed to be the only senior royal to reach out to Markle after the couple’s interview.
Shortly after the couple’s interview with Winfrey, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II, addressing the issues raised in the conversation.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately,” read the released statement. During the interview, Prince Harry clarified that neither the Queen nor Prince Philip partook in the race conversation. Scobie’s book also does not name anyone specifically as being a part of these discussions.
