He launched into stardom with the iconic High School Musical franchise in 2006. Efron starred as Troy Bolton, a staple character in 2000s history for getting all of our romantic hopes up. The films garnered Emmy Awards and a theatrical release for a third installment, setting box-office records.
Other musical credits include starring as Link Larkin alongside Nikki Blonsky and Amanda Bynes in the 2007 film adaptation of Hairspray. Not to mention working opposite Zendaya and Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman. When not showing off his vocal chops, Efron starred alongside industry giants in 17 Again, Charlie St. Cloud, Baywatch, Neighbors, Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil, And Vile.
Efron has also seen great success in the television world. He served as both producer and host for Netflix’s Down to Earth, a series where Efron travels worldwide to find healthy and sustainable ways of living. His work as producer and host earned him a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Program Host and a nomination for the Travel, Adventure, and Nature Program.
Even with his successful filmography, Efron won’t slow down anytime soon. Aside from Iron Claw, he recently wrapped A Family Affair, a rom-com with Nicole Kidman and Joey King, set to premiere on Netflix in 2024. He’ll also do a 180 when he stars in the future fantasy/comedy film Ricky Stanicky.
It’s safe to say that Efron’s momentum is not running out and will remain a household name for decades to come.
