Peter Do’s new Helmut Lang Pre-fall collection permeates the New York City lifestyle.

Earlier this year, we saw Peter Do’s debut New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer collection. The fashion show sparked a heritage craze among NYFW media, leaving the audience reminiscing about Helmut Lang’s 90s designs. Specifically, Do’s sharp, sophisticated suits which are accessorized with bold-colored seat belt-like straps.

Now, Do has released a sneak peek of his Pre-Fall collection, generating yet another craze in the fashion industry. Staying true to his design aesthetic, Do’s pre-season collection demonstrates sophisticated lines, practical colors, and polished silhouettes. The collection, though may seem mundane at first glance, is anything but that.

In Brooklyn, New York, an off-white, slightly oversized pair of trousers and matching blazer is worn casually by a model with a white button-up hoodie shirt underneath. Although the attire may appear low-key, the details of each piece defy the understated details. For example, the blazer redefines the term “double-breasted.” It is quite literally a double-breasted blazer: one suit jacket layered over the other, giving one blazer the appearance of two.

Another Helmut Lang ensemble looks to be photographed on Pier 16 in Manhattan. The all-cream look shows a model leisurely strutting the pier in straight fit, paint-splattered pants, black heeled booties, and a loose-fitting turtleneck top. On the model’s back, a jacket is uniquely worn as a backpack.

Furthermore, Do’s designs glamorously shatter the everyday corporate lull of the typical office attire. The model is photographed at an angle on Horatio and Hudson Street in New York. However, this angle only accentuates the dexterity of Do’s ability to reimagine the ordinary and make it extraordinary. What may appear to be a pair of simple black cigarette-style pants is Do’s interpretation of a skort. Over the pants is a black skirt; underneath it is all sheet black tights and heels. Draped smoothly over the entire outfit is an asymmetrical black shawl. The look is simple, effortless, and effective.

Peter Do embraces the Helmut Lang heritage once again. His designs disregard the concept of “basics are boring.” Instead, Do grasped the challenge. The collection brings forth ingenuity, irregularity, and everyday simplicity in the most effortless way. View Helmut Lang’s pieces on their website now.
