The filming in Western Australia for the psychological thriller, The Surfer, featuring Nicolas Cage, has wrapped production.

The producers unveiled a sneak peek of the film, capturing a confused-looking Cage, holding a bullet.

The Oscar winner stars as a man who returns to Australia to buy back his family home. However, local surfers humiliate him in front of his son after claiming ownership of his secluded childhood beach. In the face of humiliation, he stands defiant, remaining on the beach. The escalating conflict pushes him to the edge of his sanity, questioning his identity.

Lorcan Finnegan, who was behind Vivarium, directs the film, and was written by Thomas Martin. Additionally, the entire movie was shot in Yallingup, Western Australia.

For the film, Cage teamed up with an Aussie cast, featuring Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Nicholas Cassim (Mr In Between), Miranda Tapsell (The Dry), Alexander Bertrand (Australian Gangster), Justin Rosniak (Last King of the Cross), Rahel Romahn (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Finn Little (Yellowstone), and Charlotte Maggi (Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child on Fire).

The Surfer is a collaboration between Australia and Ireland, produced by Tea Shop Productions, Arenamedia, Lovely Productions, and Gramercy Park Media. Furthermore, with support from Screenwest’s Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive, Mossbank will take charge of international sales. Moreover, in Australia, The Surfer will be released as a Stan Original Film, in collaboration with CinemaPlus for a theatrical release.

Recently, Cage received acclaim for his performance in Dream Scenario since its debut in Toronto. In addition, the actor is also expected to appear in the sequel of his iconic Lord of War
