Glen Powell Denies Dating Rumors With Sydney Sweeney Sparked by New Rom-Com Anyone But You
Glen Powell denied dating co-star Sydney Sweeney after rumors began to circulate.
During the filming of their new film, Anyone But You, actors Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney grew close. While on the set of the romantic comedy, Sweeney was seen spending time with the Powell family during the holidays. After paparazzi allegedly caught behind-the-scenes footage of the two, gossip about a secret relationship started to spread. During that time, Powell was in a relationship with model Gigi Paris. Sweeney, on the other hand, was and still is engaged to Jonathan Davino.
The actor set the record straight during an interview with Men’s Health. “When all that stuff happened, you know, publicly, it felt disorienting and unfair. But what I’m realizing is that’s just a part of this gig now,” he stated.
Even the White Lotus star shut down the rumors. “I think people saw just how much fun we actually were having,” she told People Magazine. “It’s a rom-com! That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker. They want it. It’s fun to give it to ’em.”
However, followers noticed that Paris unfollowed Sweeney from Instagram, the younger generation’s equivalent of a slap in the face. Paris then posted that she was “choosing herself” and “wanted to start a fresh life in New York City.” Both the Set It Up star and model denied that Sweeney was the reason behind the breakup. Instead, they blamed it on the “long distance.”
Fans of both Powell and Sweeney were excited to see the secrets behind the scenes. With Sweeney known for her role as Cassie in HBO’s Euphoria, along with Powell’s appearance as Hangman in the ground-breaking film Top Gun: Maverick, viewers were anxious to see what the two would create through this film.
Sadly, though, fans were somewhat disappointed once the trailer was released. They claimed the chemistry between the costars was not what they had expected considering the allegations of their off-camera romance and were hoping for something more.
Anyone But You comes out in theaters on December 22. Check out the trailer below.
