Kelly Clarkson’s New Duet Performance with Kelsey Grammer
Even celebrities get starstruck sometimes. During Kelly Clarkson‘s Kellyoke segment, the “Stronger” hitmaker collaborated with Kelsey Grammer to sing the Frasier theme song.
The song “Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs” rose to prominence during Grammer’s role as psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane on the Cheers spin-off, Frasier, and the 2023 Paramount+ revival of the same name.
Clarkson and Grammer took turns performing verses on their own and coming together seamlessly throughout other parts of the song. The musician had fun with the track and stayed true to its jazzy roots.
By the song’s end, Clarkson expressed her love and admiration for Grammer, stating, “Thank you for jamming with me. This is like a dream come true for me, y’all. That was the theme song from his new series Frasier, which is a reboot of literally possibly — that’s a top two show for me of all time. Frasier is one of my favorites. You have no idea. I’m freaking out right now.”
Furthermore, Kelsey Grammer has portrayed the role of Dr. Frasier Crane for over thirty years. Both Cheers and Frasier ran for a whopping eleven seasons. Cheers lasted from 1982-1993; Frasier began in 1993 and ended in 2004. Grammer won four Emmys (1994, 1995, 1998, and 2004) for his portrayal of the famous psychiatrist. The actor appeared on Cheers for the first time in 1984 and joined as a series regular in 1986. From there, the rest is history.
Moreover, Clarkson asked Grammer why Frasier is being revived, he states, “It seemed like a good idea to bring him back, ’cause he was always funny. And he had a nice take on the world, and he loved the world and he wanted to make things better, so it seemed like it was a good time to step back into the role.”
In the interview, Grammer also revealed that the producers hadn’t planned on having a theme song, but he insisted on it. “What I did was, I said to them ‘Oh, by the way, I am gonna sing the theme song.’ And they said, ‘Well we’re not planning on making a theme song.’ I said, ‘Well. maybe we should plan on making one.’”
Undoubtedly, the Kellyoke segment proved to be a success. All episodes of Frasier are streaming on Hulu, and the revival is available on Paramount+.
