Sorry, the Bow Trend Isn’t Going Anywhere This Year

Another year, another set of trends have come and gone, i.e., “Clean Girl Aesthetic,” replaced by the ever-so-different “Mob Wife Aesthetic.” But, much like red lipstick and winged eyeliner, some trends cement themselves in fashion history, and this year, we’re seeing it happen with the simple bow.

Another year, another set of trends have come and gone, i.e., “Clean Girl Aesthetic,” replaced by the ever-so-different “Mob Wife Aesthetic.” But, much like red lipstick and winged eyeliner, some trends cement themselves in fashion history, and this year, we’re seeing it happen with the simple bow.

Whether you’re scrolling through Instagram to see a bunny with bows tied to its ears or you’re searching Pinterest (which has seen an uptick in bow searches by 162%) for the next best trend, it’s no secret that a simple bow has gone beyond the closet of a child and is now a staple in the “ballet core,” dainty, and feminine takeover.

However, we’re not reaching for the overly sequined, neon-colored bow a la Jojo Siwa and the Dance Moms era. The current bow fad aligns with the classy, minimalist Upper East Side look, popular with all ages. Take this year’s Critics Choice Awards, for example. Stars like Reese Witherspoon and Aja Naomi King sported the accessory on their gowns, whereas Bel Powley opted for the bowtie.
