Queen’s Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy will join the already star-studded cast of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two as a major character.

The actress revealed her role in the film by making a surprise appearance at the London premiere on February 15, which was further confirmed by Variety. Taylor-Joy joined her castmates on the red carpet, sporting a chic all-white Christian Dior outfit.

While on the red carpet, the actress shared her thoughts on the film in an interview with Warner Bros. She explained, “Having seen it, this is probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” Taylor-Joy did not reveal which character she will depict, simply stating, “You’ll have to see the film.”

When asked about her excitement toward joining the saga’s universe, Taylor-Joy expressed, “This is a dream come true. You know, the books are incredible, but, with this cast and with Denis, it just doesn’t get any better than that.”

This news does not come as a shock to some fans, as it has been widely speculated that Taylor-Joy would be added to the cast in the weeks leading up to this announcement. Many people predicted that the Golden Globe-winning actress would join fellow stars Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet on screen after fans on X reported seeing her make a cameo at the film’s Mexico premiere on February 6. The film was also accidentally listed under the star’s Letterboxd filmography for a short time prior to the announcement before being removed, furthering the rumors of her casting.

Taylor-Joy opened up about having to keep her role in the film a secret with The Upcoming, sharing, “It honestly feels like a fever dream. It feels like I’ve been keeping this inside for ages, so it’s like, ‘Ahh! It’s happening.’”

It is rumored that Taylor-Joy will portray the role of Alia Atreides, the sister of Chalamet’s character, though it has not been confirmed. Nevertheless, the star will have a major role in the feature, and many people are excited to see her join the cast.

Taylor-Joy joins other new additions to the sci-fi film’s cast: Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, and Christopher Walken, all of whom have also been confirmed to have roles in the upcoming sequel. The actress feels working with her castmates has been “unbelievable,” expressing, “I mean, I can’t think of a better cast. It’s wild.”

The highly anticipated follow-up to Villeneuve’s Oscar-winning 2021 feature will be released in theaters across the United States on March 1. Until then, viewers can catch up on the first installment of the film series by streaming Dune on Netflix.
