Kirsten Dunst Might Return to the Superhero World
Kirsten Dunst starred as Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man (2002) trilogy and recently revealed how she is open to more superhero film roles.
The March cover for Marie Claire featured Dunst, and she also gave them a revealing interview. The actress opened up about the industry, her friendships, and being typecast. Her newest role is in the upcoming A24 action film, Civil War (2024). The renowned Brazilian actor Wagner Moura is also in the film.
“I think it’s a cautionary tale, a fable of what happens when people don’t communicate with each other and stop seeing each other as human beings,” Dunst told Marie Claire.

In addition, Dunst was very clear about how she wants more roles that pay well. The Spider-Man trilogy opened the way for the rise of the superhero genre. Consequently, now that those films are so popular, the budget for them is bigger, and that attracted Dunst to be a part of one again.
“Yes, because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two children, and I support my mother,” she explained when asked if she would do another superhero film.
She's spitting facts. Most superhero movies are big budget movies and that means more money in your pocket. Get the bag Kirsten.

Other incredible films Dunst has under her belt include Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, the first Bring It On alongside Gabrielle Union, Jumanji (1995), and the iconic Interview with the Vampire.
“I saw the power in women very young, I think that’s helped with…not needing male attention in my career,” she stated.
I find it so wild that Kirsten Dunst is having trouble finding roles. https://t.co/eDseEQv0gg

On top of that, she revealed why she didn’t work for two years. Dunst explained that she only gets offered “sad mom” roles, as she called it. She felt like after her last role, her age and Hollywood’s ageism against women led to this scenario.
“There’s definitely less good roles for women my age,” she expressed. Michele Yeoh, Olivia Wilde, Anne Hathaway, and Emma Thompson are some other names who have spoken on this problem.
Kirsten Dunst’s newest project, Civil War (2024), arrives in theaters on April 12. You can watch the trailer below.
