Sony Pictures has announced that all eight live-action Spider-Man films are set to return to theaters beginning April 15.

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films are all returning to the big screen to celebrate Columbia Pictures’ 100 year anniversary.

Each film will be in theaters for one week only between April and June. The marathon will begin with Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man (2002), which starred Maguire alongside Kirsten Dunst, Willem Dafoe, and James Franco.

Spider-Man is based on student Peter Parker (Maguire), who is bitten by a genetically altered spider, and in turn gains superhuman strength and the ability to cling to anyt surface. He then vows to use his abilities to fight crime, eventually understanding the words of his passed Uncle Ben: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

It will end with Holland, Garfield, and Maguire’s iconic 2021 team-up in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Many speculate Sony’s returning its hit films to theaters may have to do with recent criticism of their cinematic universe. The Sony Universe of Marvel characters dubbed the SUMC, has not seen much positivity since its recent release, Madame Web.

The film debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with a 13% critics score and a 47% audience score. Additionally, the film’s leading stars, Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, have not appeared to be big fans of Madame Web either.

Re-releasing all eight Spider-Man films will bring the company positive box office numbers again.
