Tom Holland, the charming English actor, sold out London’s West End’s revival of Romeo and Juliet, in less than two hours, leaving many fans upset.

Pre-sale tickets were available on February 13 at 8 a.m. and didn’t last long after that. Fans raced to buy tickets, excited to see the famous actor perform for the Romeo and Juliet stage adaptation directed and produced by Jamie Lloyd. Over 60,000 people joined the virtual ticket-buying queue for general tickets, and only a few were lucky enough to grab a seat. The show will run between May 11 and August 3 at the Dukes of York’s theater in West End London.

The Uncharted actor has always been a theater kid at heart. His career began when a choreographer noticed him during his dance classes at a young age. This choreographer liked his talents so much that he arranged for him to audition for Billy Elliot the Musical at London’s Victoria Palace Theater in 2008, where he took the lead role. He later found success in film, potraying Lucas in The Impossible in 2012, which accumulated fantastic reviews. Since then, he has continued his career in film, debuting as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and appearing in several films, including The Devil All the Time in 2020 and Cherry in 2021.

Holland is a phenomenal testament to dreams coming true. In an interview for W Magazine, the actor revealed that his first-ever audition was for Romeo and Juliet. He failed to gain any role, including Juliet. Holland states, “When I was 8 or 9, I auditioned for every role in Romeo and Juliet, including Juliet, and I didn’t get a single part.” Now, he finally has the opportunity to star in one of the most prominent Shakespeare’s plays of all time, satisfying his younger self.

The fans aren’t the only ones enthusiastic about Holland taking the stage. The director of Holland’s sold-out show, Jamie Lloyd, best known for his work with his eponymous theater company, spoke highly about the opportunity to work with the young actor. Lloyd explained in a statement, “Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world” and that “it is an honor to welcome him back to the West End.” Further casting for Romeo and Juliet has yet to be announced.
