Rapper and music mogul Sean Combs, who is better known as “Diddy,” faces several civil lawsuits and house raids concerning sex trafficking, sexual abuse, and rape.

Combs, also referred to as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, etc., is one of the most influential people in the music industry. The rapper, music producer, and record executive has been credited with discovering mainstream artists, such as the Notorious B.I.G, Usher, and Mary J. Blige.

In November 2023, Comb’s former girlfriend, Cassandra Ventura, recognized as the singer Cassie, filed a federal lawsuit against Combs for alleged physical and sexual abuse throughout their relationship. The claims varied from Combs beating Ventura to even forcing himself into her apartment one night and raping her. Since then, Combs was sued by four different people, three women and one man, for rape, nonconsensual pornography, and sex trafficking.

Ventura met Combs in 2005 when he was 37, and she was only 19. She described their relationship as Combs having a “tight hold over her life,” as he controlled every aspect of her life, from her career to her medical records. The complaint claimed that Combs would force her to engage in sex acts with other men while he watched, recorded, and masturbated. She also alleged that Combs would ply her with copious amounts of drugs. The rapper denied all of his accuser’s allegations.

The four other people who have sued Combs include Joie Dickerson-Neal, Liza Gardner, Jane Doe, and Rodney Jones. Dickerson-Neal alleges that Combs had drugged and sexually assaulted her after the two went out on a dinner date. She continued that Combs recorded the assault and showed the film to other people.

Liza Gardner filed a lawsuit the same day as Dickerson-Neal’s complaint, a day before the Adult Survivors Act was set to expire. Gardner claimed she and a friend met Combs and singer Aaron Hall at an MCA Records event. The two friends had attended an after-party of the event at Hall’s apartment. There is where both girls allege they were sexually assaulted. In Gardner’s suit, it states, “While at Hall’s apartment, Liza Gardner was offered more drinks and was coerced into having sex with Combs.” The lawsuit also alleges, “Upon information and belief, when Combs finished with Liza Gardner, he and Hall switched, and they commenced assaulting Liza Gardner’s friend.” This incident occurred while Gardner was only 16.

In December 2023, Jane Doe came forward with gang rape and sex trafficking allegations against Combs and Harve Pierre, a former President of Comb’s record label. Doe filed a lawsuit for the assault that occurred in 2003 when she was only 17. The suit claimed that she was convinced to travel with the two and a third assailant on a private jet where she was induced with many drugs. The three men took turns raping her in a studio bathroom when she was too incoherent to consent.

Furthermore, Rodney Jones, a producer who worked on Comb’s latest album, was abused during his time spent with the record executive. Jones claimed Combs groomed him into having a sexual relationship with him, witnessed Combs give laced drinks to people at parties (where underage girls and sex workers were present), sexually harassed and assaulted him, etc. Fortunately for the case, Jones had acquired hours of footage of Combs and his staff engaging in criminal acts. Jones filed a lawsuit accusing Combs of a “widespread and dangerous criminal sex trafficking organization” along with the other allegations.

On March 25, two of Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami Beach were raided by federal agents with Homeland Security Investigations. Multiple news outlets, including CNN, reported that these raids were related to ongoing sex trafficking investigations based out of New York. Agents in Los Angeles were seen carrying a cardboard box and several bags out of Combs’ property. Any evidence found will likely take time to process and locate due to the significant size of both properties.

Combs has denied and described the accusations as “looking for a quick payday” and “sickening.” Following the raid, Combs’s lawyer, Aaron Dyer, came out with the statement that there was a “gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed” and “Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”
