Teyana Taylor Stuns as the New Face of Alaïa
Teyana Taylor is having a full-blown fashion moment, and her latest is her most striking yet. The multi-hyphenate star is the new face of Alaïa, fronting the French luxury house’s Summer/Fall 2026 campaign in a series of arresting, sculptural images that feel less like an advertisement and more like a work of art. Shot entirely in black and white, the campaign is a masterclass in movement, strength, and unapologetic femininity.
If anyone could turn a fashion campaign into a performance, it is Taylor, and this one proves exactly why the industry cannot get enough of her.
Inside Teyana Taylor’s Alaïa Campaign
Titled L’Essence d’une Silhouette, the campaign was captured by acclaimed photographer David Sims, as The Hollywood Reporter detailed, with creative direction and styling by Aleksandra Woroniecka, hair by Rio Sreedharan, and makeup by Yadim Carranza. Rendered in crisp black and white, the images place the spotlight squarely on the body in motion, framing each pose like a fragment of an intimate portrait.
Throughout the series, Taylor moves through Alaïa’s signature second-skin knits and sculptural silhouettes, from a light-catching metallic minidress to jersey designs with precise anatomical cutouts. Her background as a dancer and performer is the campaign’s beating heart, giving the still images a sense of weightless, almost choreographed energy, an effect further explored in an accompanying campaign film.
Following in Iconic Footsteps
Taylor’s casting is a natural fit for a house with a long history of celebrating powerful, magnetic women. Alaïa has cultivated a decades-long dialogue with performers known for commanding a stage, from Grace Jones to Tina Turner, and Taylor steps confidently into that lineage, bringing a distinctly contemporary intensity to it.
The campaign also arrives at a pivotal moment for the label. The Summer/Fall 2026 collection was the final one curated by creative director Pieter Mulier before his departure for Versace, leaving the house currently without a creative lead. Fittingly, the collection strips things back to a pure, minimal expression of the Alaïa essence, letting the silhouettes, and Taylor, speak for themselves.
A Fashion Force in Her Own Right
For Taylor, the campaign is simply the latest chapter in a long love affair with fashion. The Harlem-born singer, actress, dancer, and director, fresh off her acclaimed turn in the film One Battle After Another, has spent years cementing herself as a genuine style force, from red-carpet showstoppers to her own inclusive fashion line.
With this campaign, she reaffirms her status as one of the most compelling muses working today, an artist whose body, in Alaïa’s own words, becomes a language all its own. It is bold, it is beautiful, and it is unmistakably Teyana. What do you think of her Alaïa campaign?
