Christian Louboutin Hits Billionaire Status
After being in the fashion industry for nearly four decades as the inventor of the iconic “red bottoms,” Christian Louboutin is officially a billionaire.
The 61-year-old French designer has achieved billionaire status while continuing to grow a cult following with his brand, most notably known for its red-lacquered soles and his golden signature etched on the inside.

With celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, and Kate Winslet spotted wearing the infamous red heel, the footwear has become a staple in celebrity fashion, especially for performers. If you are famous or can afford stiletto footwear, then it is expected you walk out every day sporting a variation of the shoe.
Although Louboutin offers many styles and designs, he stays true to the red bottom for each classic pair. He even introduced a limited edition collection for kids, with sneakers and loafers, and customers receive a complimentary comic book with every purchase.

From women’s leather goods and accessories to men’s and children’s lines, it is no surprise that the designer has developed his brand into an empire for loyal customers to support.
The fashion company was valued at $3.2 billion last year by Exor, the investment company of the Italian Agnelli family. In 2021, Exor purchased a twenty-four percent stake for around $650 million. Louboutin still owes 35% of his brand, which Forbes has calculated to be valued at $1.1 billion.
Now, his stake makes up an estimated $1.2 billion fortune, including other investments made by the designer, such as the Vermelho Hotel, a luxury resort he opened in Melides, Portugal.
Louboutin has no plans to stop with his luxury brand after reaching billionaire status. He is currently collaborating with Japanese artist Shun Sodo on a capsule collection showcasing Sudo’s “Button Flower.”
Born and raised in Tokyoʼs city center, #ShunSudo takes his inspiration from traditional Japanese painting, American pop culture, and modern and contemporary artists.
