Keke Palmer recently opened up about myths related to motherhood in an interview with Parade.

“The biggest misconception is that you know, you need all these rule books. Now there are things that can help you but honestly, even the mom that thinks it didn’t come natural to her, it was exactly what that baby needed,” Palmer stated.

The actress announced her pregnancy with her first child in December 2022 during her SNL monologue. The following year, in February, she announced the birth of her son, Leodis Andrellton Jackson, who she shares with her ex, Darius Jackson. Since giving birth to her son, the 30-year-old has learned a multitude of truths about motherhood and what it takes to be a good mother.

“The reality and the truth is that there is no perfect anything, there’s just you doing the thing. Once you have that confidence to just trust yourself, it becomes so much easier,” the actress stated.

Palmer recently celebrated her son’s first birthday on February 25 and dedicated a heartwarming video to which she captioned his birthday as the “greatest day of my life.” In her interview, she also acknowledged that society greatly partakes in what a good mom is. She hopes to help change that narrative, stating, “There’s this idea of what a mom looks like, and I don’t really think that’s fair because every mom is different…moms are people and individuals. What’s so important about being a parent is that your child sees you.”

The Nope star also expressed that while worrying about being a good mother to your child is natural, moms should not stress too much. Motherhood is an “uphill battle” and is a different experience for every mom. Palmer continued encouraging other moms, stating, “You are the perfect mom for your baby. There’s no wrong or right – everything that you do, everything you’re learning; all the lessons and all the figuring it out, you are perfectly suited for your child.”

The actress recently shared a milestone for her son, him pronouncing “mama,” on her Instagram. Her video left fans teary-eyed and congratulating her on her son’s achievement. We wish Keke the best on her journey as a mom and hope she has an incredible experience. You can read her Parade interview here.
