After its much-awaited arrival, Pretty Little Liars: Summer School finally has an official release date. Earlier this year, Max, formerly HBO Max, hinted at a spring release date for the summer slasher take on the prequel series to the original Pretty Little Liars.
Set to release May 9, the newest season will return strong with a two-episode premiere and continue to air on the streaming platform Max until June 20.
Be creful.

A month away from the grand premiere of season two, fans can expect to see the liars still encounter chaos, mystery, and murder in the small town of Millwood, Pennsylvania. First, the original liars from the first season, such as Imogen (Bailee Madison), Tabita (Chandler Kinney), and Noa (Maia Reficco), will be returning right where the first season left off. There are no spoilers here, but if you have yet to watch the first season, we highly recommend you do.
Second, the newest villain in season two may or may not have a connection to “A,” which fans of the original series know all too well (that was a slight spoiler there, sorry). Throughout the first season, the five girls were being terrorized by “A” for their family connection to their mothers. Max also just released a synopsis for the second season below:
“Following the harrowing events of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, our Pretty Little Liars face a fate worse than death- summer school. However, Millwood High isn’t the only thing getting in the way of their fun summer jobs and new, dreamy love interests. A new villain, who may or may not have a connection to ‘A,’ has come to town and is going to put them all to the test.”
The best is yet to come.

Next, the hype for season two is real, as the series has been the most successful spinoff of the original hit franchise. Pretty Little Liars first premiered in 2010. Since then, the series introduced three more shows, with Original Sin being the third spinoff. The only difference is that the other spinoffs were canceled after just one season, while Original Sin was renewed after growing in popularity.
The second season will feature some familiar faces from the original series, such as Annabeth Gish returning to portray Dr. Anne Sullivan. This epic crossover will delight long-time fans, as their two worlds will collide this spring.

The season will also highlight and pay homage to iconic summer slasher films as well. The creators of the series suggest watching Friday the 13th Part 2, When a Stranger Calls, and Scream 2 to understand their inspiration behind each episode.
After hearing this news, it is evident the latest season will be killer. If you have not started watching the latest installment of the PLL franchise, start streaming on Max today. If you are all caught up, make sure not to miss the two-episode premiere when the series slashes its way onto your screen.
