Jonathan Bailey Joins Heartstopper for New Season
Bridgerton actor Jonathan Bailey will make a cameo in Heartstopper season 3, embodying Jack Maddox. In addition, more stars will be joining the cast.
On April 25, Netflix welcomed Bailey to the Heartstopper series through a video on X. In the 16-second clip, viewers received a first look at his portrayal of the mini-comic character Henry Maddox, now changed to Jack Maddox for the drama adaptation. Greeting the audience with a charmingly soft “Hi,” the actor has already set the tone for the season.

Maddox, who is “an Instagram-famous classicist,” was first introduced in The Ethics of Infatuation Dynamics, a Heartstopper mini-comic. He is Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) celebrity crush who unknowingly stirs tension in the young boy’s relationship with Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). Just like the graphic novel, the mini-comic is playful and heartwarming. Moreover, many fans cannot wait to see the story come to life.
Before the announcement, there was prior speculation if Bailey would be participating in season 3. After its confirmation, viewers of the Netflix series went to social media to express their excitement.

Heartstopper is just one of many projects coming out this year involving the actor. In fact, Bailey will be reprising his role as the Viscount Anthony Bridgerton for season 3 of Bridgerton, releasing on May 16. The highly anticipated Netflix series will center around the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. It will also showcase glimpses of the Viscount’s life of marriage following the second season. In addition, the actor will star alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the new musical film Wicked. Releasing November 27, he will embody Fiyero, Elphaba’s (Erivo) love interest.
However, Bailey is not the only star joining the cast. Following his announcement, Netflix revealed, in another tweet, two more actors entering the Heartstopper series. Ray Donovan‘s Eddie Marsan will portray Charlie’s therapist, Geoff, and Agent Carter‘s Hayley Atwell will take on the role of Nick’s aunt, Diane.

In the Heartstopper graphic novel, Geoff is a beloved character described as a “wise and straight-talking therapist.” As for Diane, “she takes [Nick] on a summer holiday to Menorca and has some tough advice to impart about his relationship with Charlie.” Olivia Colman, who portrays Sarah Nelson, Nick’s mom, will be absent from season 3 due to scheduling conflicts. Furthermore, Diane will likely fill the role of an adult figure Nick can look to for guidance.
