The return of Heartstopper is almost here. Netflix announced that the third season of the coming-of-age drama will be released this October.

On March 20, Netflix dropped a new trailer for Heartstopper’s third season. The teen romance series stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke. Based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series of the same name, it follows the story of two teenage boys, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, as they navigate the challenges of young love.

In the trailer, viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the series. The actors discuss the changes their characters go through with the arrival of the new season.

The video starts with Connor and Locke teasing where their characters are by Episode 8. Connor explains, “So Nick and Charlie have… It’s started to get a bit more steamy.” As they leave to begin filming, Connor declares, “We’re about to have a great time.”

In addition to the plotline for the main couple, the trailer also provides insight into where some of the other characters are headed in the upcoming season.

William Gao comments on what fans can expect from his character Tao Xu. The actor reveals, “Tao is beginning to figure out what he loves to do and what his hobbies are. He’s finding a passion for something that he begins to really love.” He continues, “And he does it to bring joy to people and to cheer up the other characters in the show.”

Jenny Walser, who portrays the sister of Locke’s character, also addresses the role Tori will play in the next installment. “This season, we get to see a little bit more of Tori, and how what Charlie has been going through has affected her,” she shares. “And she also makes a new friend,” the actress adds.

Furthermore, Yasmin Finney, who stars onscreen as Elle Argent, discusses how the success of Season Two affected the actors as they work on the series’ third season. “The positive reaction from Season 2 has really boosted all of our confidence. I can’t wait for you guys to see,” she expresses.

The trailer ends with Connor hinting, “The tension is high. It’s like sexual tension, love, we’re all there.”

After posting the trailer, Netflix shared more details about the new season on social media: “This season, Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges.”

“As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan,” the post continues

Additionally, the streaming platform’s X account changed its bio to reflect the news. Amidst leaf emojis, it reads, “heartstopper this october.”

Heartstopper’s third season comes out this fall. Viewers can watch the series’ first two seasons on Netflix while they wait. They can also view the trailer below.
