The first four episodes of Bridgerton season 3 premiered last week and are filled with love interests, friendships, betrayals, and passion.

Fans were excited to see their favorite Bridgerton characters back on the screen, and the actors and production team did not disappoint. The tension-packed scenes between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) friends-to-lover arc thrilled their audience, now eager for the final episodes. 

The main characters of the season include Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie), Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh), Violet Bridgerton (Ruth Gemmell), Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd), each following their unique storylines.

Watching Penelope and Colin’s friendship blossom through hardships of unwanted gossip to forsaken love, exhilarated fans. Being a kind friend, Colin helps Penelope in hopes of finding a husband. Gossip spreads fast around society and their secret gets out, the scandal written by Lady Whistledown (Penelope). The two share a kiss in the dead of night, leaving Colin consumed by thoughts of Penelope. Penelope loses hope of finding a suitor but soon meets Lord Debling (Sam Phillips).

Colin intervenes in Penelope and Debling’s dance, leading to Debling calling off the potential engagement. Colin and Penelope take a carriage back home, pleading for his forgiveness. Tension rises and at the end of the scene: Colin states, “For God’s sake, Penelope Featherington. Are you going to marry me or not?”

Francesca Bridgerton’s (Hannah Dodd) storyline is unique compared to her sibling’s love life. Following in her sister’s, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), footsteps, she is presented to Queen Charlotte in hopes of becoming the Diamond of the Season.

Francesca’s relationship with Lord John Stirling (Victor Alli) is built on the foundation of comfort in one another’s presence. During a party, Francesca takes a moment to step outside and is greeted by Stirling. Francesca apologized, informing him that she needed a moment of silence. Stirling states, “Perhaps we can enjoy the silence together.”

Francesca’s passion for the piano and her desire for a quiet night amongst a crowd create a realistic character that many audience members connect with. 

Eloise Bridgerton’s (Claudia Jessie) new friendship with Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen) shook fans, but many are eager to see how it plays out. Is it a true friendship or mere convenience? 

In this season of Bridgerton, there are multiple disability representations. After Dolores Stowell (Kitty Devlin) bows to Queen Charlotte, she returns to her mother, Lady Stowell (Sophie Woolley) using British sign language. In addition, Penelope is seen talking to a potential suitor, Lord Remington (Zak Ford-Williams), who uses a wheelchair. They hit it off and proceed to discuss their interest in Lady Whistledown.
