Joshua Bassett Announces New Debut Album The Golden Years
Emmy-winning songwriter, singer, and actor Joshua Bassett, 23, has officially announced his debut album, The Golden Years. On the same day, he released the single, also titled, “The Golden Years,” and took to Instagram to tease the new project.
“We’re shooting the cover for ‘The Golden Years,’ the single – first single of the album – first album of my life,” he stated. “THE ALBUM. THE GOLDEN YEARS. JULY 26,” the video caption read.
After years of singles and EPs, fans are through the roof with excitement for the full-length album. “Everyone isn’t ready for the masterpiece that’s comingggg,” one fan commented. “SCREAMING CRYING IM SO FREAKING EXCITED & SO PROUD OF YOU,” another wrote.
The triple threat has been quiet on the music front for quite some time, releasing the EP Sad Songs in a Hotel Room in September 2022 and his single “Just Love” in September 2023. Not to mention, he bid farewell to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in which he portrayed the main character, Ricky Bowen. So, it’s safe to say he’s been busy, but the wait will be worth it.
In a statement regarding the new album, Basset described The Golden Years as, “Bittersweet nostalgia of my late teens and early twenties, my debut album is a love letter to the ‘golden years’ of my life thus far. This body of work spans the hope and heartbreak of my transition into adulthood. It’s a genre-bending journal entry from the bottom of my heart.”

We already garnered a glimpse of this sentiment with the title track recently released on May 17. The pre-chorus perfectly encapsulates his statement as he sings, “Four years gone by / in the blink of an eye / we were young ‘til we weren’t / it was fun ‘til it hurt.” After hearing the first track, fans are excited at what’s to come.
Joshua Bassett’s debut album, The Golden Years, drops on July 26 and you can pre-save it here. His new single, also titled, “The Golden Years,” is available for streaming now. `
