This week’s Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 highlighted friends and singer-songwriters Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter as the only two female artists.

Swift placed at number 8 with the song from her newest album, The Tortured Poets Department, “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone. The single has become Swift’s 12 Billboard Number 1.

Carpenter, though no stranger to the music scene, has recently captured the spotlight, culminating in her impressive Billboard placement. Her current single “Espresso,” follows behind Swift’s at number 9 and has remained in the Top 10 for four straight weeks.

After years of YouTube covers and albums released during her time on the Disney Channel, Carpenter has taken the mainstream music industry by storm with her undeniable talent. The success of this catchy pop song makes her one of the most mainstream artists of 2024 and someone to keep an eye out for a future tour.

The friendship development between these singer-songwriters is a refreshing change in an industry that often pits women against each other, as highlighted by their collaboration on the iconic “Eras Tour.” As far back as 2009, Carpenter would post covers of popular songs on YouTube, such as “Picture to Burn.”

She even tried to win a karaoke concert to meet Taylor Swift but was unsuccessful as she was too young.

14 years later, the “Nonsense” singer announced on X that she would become the opening performer during the Latin American leg of the “Eras Tour.” She told Who What Wear that when Swift asked her to join the tour, “it was very much a childhood dream come true. I still probably have not processed it if I’m being completely honest with you.”

Since then, the two have remained very friendly by speaking highly of one another in interviews, being photographed at social gatherings, and Carpenter dropping an official cover of “I Knew You Were Trouble” with the singer’s stamp of approval.

The relationship built between these two women is extraordinary. It shows two women working together and building each other up in the music industry and encourages us to not give up on our dreams and the people we look up to. Congratulations to Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter for another week on the Billboard Top 100.

You can stream “Fortnight” and “Espresso” on all streaming platforms.
