That fun, flirty, pin-up girl-esque feel from the video was apparent in High School Musical 2’s “Fabulous” number, featuring Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale).

In the video, Carpenter starts in black and white, driving a motorboat, and suddenly, they land on the beach. On the beach is also an array of chairs and umbrellas, much like in the 2007 film’s scene. Later on in the video, the pop star has her girls behind her as they delve into some reading and hand over their credit cards as the pool boys adhere to every summon.

The boys serve the ladies with massages, pedicures, and, of course, espressos, although Sharpay was more of an “iced tea imported from England” kind of girl. We still have yet to find out if Carpenter’s beach towels are also from Turkey, but we’ll get back to you on that.

Nonetheless, their beach day turns out to be a day of summer fun straight out of a dream sequence—or a Disney film—but what’s the difference?

Directed by Grammy-nominated director Dave Meyers, the “Espresso” video is a celebration of summer, girlhood, and most importantly, confidence, which is something the pop star aimed to achieve through this song.

“The song is kind of about seeing femininity as your superpower and embracing the confidence of being that b***h,” she told Vogue.

So far, “Espresso” has garnered the artist her highest charting single yet. She’s earned her first Top 10 hit on the Global Spotify Chart, to which she responded, “Gag.” With the video’s “beach babe” vibes and the groovy tones in the song, fans are already pegging “Espresso” as the song of the summer. Honestly, we’re not mad at it.
