The 60-second clip, featuring Madonna’s hit song “Like a Prayer,” was posted on X by Marvel Studios. It highlights the rocky partnership between Deadpool and Wolverine and the humorous chemistry between Reynolds and Jackman.

The whimsical, sarcastic, and raunchy characters have readily intensified the anticipation for the latest Phase Five installment. Regal Cinemas commented on the film’s trailer, expressing, “The buddy comedy genre will never be the same again.”

The teaser included shots of Deadpool (Wade Wilson), Wolverine (James Howlett or Logan), and a few new characters, including one that seems to be Deadpool’s latest companion: a dog speculated to be Dogpool, a Deadpool variant from Marvel Comics.

Dogpool is one of several Deadpool variants within the multiverse, such as Kidpool, Lady Deadpool, and even a Pandapool, and his inclusion in the trailer hints at the storytelling direction Marvel Studios intends to pursue.

The multiverse, in particular, has been explored in many Marvel Studios Phase Four productions, such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and The Marvels.

Though the teaser didn’t reveal any significant plot points, Dogpool’s involvement led fans to consider other ideas and theories. The film’s main antagonist is unknown, as the trailer only showcased Deadpool and Wolverine fighting each other or the goons of the mystery villain; however, fans speculate the big bad of the film will be Cassandra Nova, mutant and sister to Professor X, also known as Charles Xavier.

Jordan Iacobucci, a senior writer at Comic Book Resources, explained, “Nova was the mummudrai of Professor X, becoming his dark opposite held captive in the astral plane without a body.”

The X post invites fans to purchase tickets before the film’s release on July 26, offering pre-sale for tickets and a package deal that includes best friend necklaces and tickets upon purchase.
