Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Release New Documentary Trailer
Netflix just dropped the trailer for America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. The documentary will premiere on June 20.
The 36 Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, with their flexible high kicks, unison dances, and dazzling uniforms, take to the screen to give the world a close look into their lives. Viewers are eager to know what it takes to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.
Cheerleading is not just bows and sparkly uniforms but a combination of dedication, trust in teammates, and physical and mental strength. Since 1961, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have performed for an entire stadium of fans at Cowboys’ home AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The team showcases their perfected dances with white knee-high boots on the field every home game.
The seven-episode documentary will follow the iconic NFL cheerleaders throughout the 2023–24 football season. The series will start with tedious auditions, progressing to training camps, uniform try-ons, and finally, their official time spent on and off the field.
Kelli Finglass, the current director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, wants the documentary to prove to the world what it truly takes to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. Netflix states, “America’s Sweethearts documents the personal stories behind the uniforms, revealing the ambition and drive shared by the cheerleaders and their coaches.”
Greg Whiteley, Emmy Award-winning director of Cheer and Last Chance U, is producing the series. Whiteley dives behind the scenes of the heart and soul of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, proving that the team’s extraordinary diligence and long hours spent learning routines and cheers are no easy task.
The cheerleaders showcase sportsmanship on and off the field and are the true face of NFL cheerleading. Representing their team, they are held to the highest expectations, leaving no room for mistakes.
With an existing fan base from the hit Netflix series Cheer, released in 2020, focusing on Navarro College Cheer, fans are excited to see what new insights NFL cheerleading can bring to the screens.
