Get up on your feet because the “often imitated but never equaled” Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are dancing their way to Netflix. The new series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will follow the 36 dancers who make the coveted lineup during the 2023-2024 NFL season.

Created by Emmy-winning director Greg Whiteley and the crew behind Cheer and Last Chance U, the series is set to grant viewers unfiltered access to the drive, determination, and drama as they train to “look like a supermodel but perform like an athlete.”

“The kind of access and creative freedom we need to make the kind of work we want to make is not easy to come by—especially when dealing with a brand as large as the Dallas Cowboys…To their infinite credit, the Cowboys offered unfettered access for the year we filmed the DCC and left us alone. The result is an authentic portrait of one of the most storied and beloved institutions we have in American pop culture,” Whiteley stated.

Charlotte Jones, Executive Vice President/Chief Brand Officer and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders President shared her excitement “to see the results of a season spent with Greg Whiteley and a remarkable crew following every step of the way.” She continued, “The storytelling through this open access will captivate viewers episode after episode, and Netflix’s global stage is the perfect platform to showcase it.”

This shift in concept came as the original series Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team wrapped after 16 seasons on CMT in 2022. At the time, DCC director Kelli Finglass mentioned they were working on a “new partnership” with a different platform.

DCC: Making the Team focused on the new hopefuls as they went through the rigorous audition process and 12-week training program that would follow. In the end, after hundreds of auditionees, less than 40 women would be chosen to don the iconic stars and boots of the DCC.

There is no release date at the moment, but America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will hit Netflix later this year. Check out the trailer below.
