The “Flowers” singer doesn’t value awards much these days. Referring to her recent Grammy win, Cyrus expressed, “I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and this is my first time actually being taken seriously at the Grammys?” During her acceptance speech, she shared, “This award is amazing, but I really hope that it doesn’t change anything because my life was beautiful yesterday.”

The superstar hasn’t slowed down as “II Most Wanted,” her duet on Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER, has become Cyrus’s 13 top-10 song on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The actress gave insight into the song’s creation: “I wrote that song, like, two and a half years ago. You know, between [Beyoncé] being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song.”

Cyrus defines what the term “mother” means to her. The artist clarifies, “The word ‘mother’ is the most all-encompassing word.” The singer considers the Miley Cyrus Foundation (formerly the Happy Hippie Foundation) “the Mother Foundation.”

The “Used to Be Young” singer believes that the Miley Cyrus Foundation celebrates mothers’ legacy, whether in drag or mothers who have shaped their children’s lives. The artist expands on the definition of mother, explaining, “With the word ‘mother,’ we can talk about the planet, we can talk about agriculture, we can talk about medicine, we can talk about injustices, reproductive care.”

The Hannah Montana alum was honored at the annual Disney Legends Awards Ceremony. The singer shares that the award “celebrate[s] the journey of both being on and graduating from Disney.”

At this point in her career, Cyrus doesn’t feel the need to compete with anyone. The songstress reveals, “I don’t think of other artists as opponents. Artists are not the same as athletes, playing a zero-sum game and keeping a score. There isn’t a score in art.”
