Nintendo Direct Reveals Exciting New Games and Features for 2024
The wait is over. Nintendo Direct premiered on June 18, delivering a slew of exciting updates about upcoming games and features for the Nintendo Switch. For around 40 minutes, fans were treated to a detailed overview of what to expect in the second half of 2024.
One of the most significant announcements featured the return of the iconic duo, Mario and Luigi. The new game, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, marks the first new entry in the franchise in nine years. The highly anticipated game releases on November 7.
“The brothers are back for a brand-new entry in the Mario & Luigi series, where they set sail on Shipshape Island (part ship, part island) to navigate the vast world of Concordia,” Nintendo announced. Players will explore diverse islands, from tropical rainforests to bustling cities, meet new friends and encounter familiar faces from the Mushroom Kingdom, like Peach and Bowser. The game promises dynamic turn-based combat, emphasizing the brothers’ bond and powerful Bros. attacks.

But Mario and Luigi weren’t the only highlights. Nintendo also unveiled several other exciting games and features. The Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game features 150 speedrunning challenges and the ultimate test of champions in Legend Challenges across 13 NES games.

Additionally, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the latest installment in the Legend of Zelda saga, finally allows gamers to play as the iconic Princess Zelda. It releases on September 25, which is sure to delight fans.
Furthermore, another Mario game installment, Super Mario Party Jamboree, was announced as the biggest Mario Party game yet, featuring more than 110 mini-games. This exciting addition releases on October 17 for the Switch.
Lastly, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is one of the newest and cutest game announcements from the event. The game allows players to learn to cook delicious dishes, solve ancient puzzles, and decorate cabins on their slice of tropical paradise with the stars of the mega-popular Sanrio mascot and her pals.
