Russo Brothers Circling Return to the MCU for Avengers 5
In its continuing hunt for a director for Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, the MCU is returning to what worked in the past by bringing back the Russo Brothers.
Today, The Hollywood Reporter dropped a shocking exclusive report that Joseph and Anthony Russo, the directing duo collectively known as the Russo Brothers, were in talks to return to helm the following two Avengers films.
The duo have worked with Marvel on four previous occasions. They directed the last two Avengers films, Infinity War and Endgame, and Captain America films, Civil War and Winter Soldier. In addition, Deadline would later clarify that this is only the beginning of the continued collaboration between Marvel and the Russos.

The subsequent Avengers films have had a rocky road. Thought to center heavily on Kang the Conqueror, plans changed when actor Johnathan Majors was fired. Since then, the direction has remained unclear. Previously, rumors had been that Shawn Levy would direct the films. However, he appears to be stepping away to focus on other projects.
Shawn Levy reportedly turned down directing 'AVENGERS 5' so he could focus on other projects including his Star Wars film.

With Marvel’s world-famous Hall H Comicon panel just one week away, it’s still being determined that an official announcement will be made there. The rule of thumb around the time of Comicon is generally to wait for Marvel to announce officially. As such, we will see if the Russos will go the way of Shawn Levy or if Feige will trust them with yet another major project.
