Avengers Assemble: Shawn Levy in Talks to Direct Avengers 5
Following in the footsteps of Joss Whedon and the Russo Brothers, Shawn Levy may soon enter the Avengers Mansion.
Deadline released an exclusive report that Levy is in talks to direct Marvel’s next Avengers film. The article noted that Levy is just one of the directors Marvel is considering. They are continuing to approach other filmmakers while Levy makes his decision. However, the Free Guy director is the first to be publicly announced as being in contention.
The next ‘AVENGERS’ film is expected to feature over 60 characters returning to the MCU.

Deadline also revealed additional details about the next Avengers film. Loki creator Micheal Waldron penned the most recent film’s script. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi, and Karen Gillan’s Nebula are characters that Waldron may include in the film. After Johnathan Majors was fired last year, the main villain is currently unknown. Marvel will start filming in London early next year.
Levy has directed episodes for every season of the hit series Stranger Things and is returning for its fifth and final season. In addition, he collaborated with actor Ryan Reynolds for films such as Free Guy, The Adam Project, and the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine. The latter is slated to be one of the biggest films of this summer. Yesterday, it received an R rating from the MPAA, becoming the first MCU film to be rated as such in the 16 history of the franchise.

Audiences are very excited for Deadpool and Wolverine. As such, Marvel handing their biggest upcoming film to Levy indicates a sign of confidence in their only release of the year. In addition, with production starting early next year, Marvel would be wise to attach more talent to the project. You can watch the official trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine below.
