Last week, fans everywhere celebrated “Mean Girls Day” on October 3. Netflix decided to join the fun with two of the four “Plastics” in their own holiday films.

When it comes to Christmas and the holiday season, Netflix is known for its feel-good romcoms to ring in an extra bit of holiday cheer. In the past, Netflix has cast actresses including Vanessa Hudgens and Nina Dobrev as their leading holiday ladies. Now, the popular streaming platform has selected Lindsay Lohan and Lacey Chabert as their leading holiday ladies this year. Not to be a bit dramatic, but a mini Mean Girls reunion was not on our 2024 bingo cards.

Half of the iconic “Plastics” will have their own Netflix holiday films this year, with the official announcement on October 3. While the streamer rang in the news on “Mean Girls Day,” this year also marks the twenty-year anniversary of the film.

The holiday films have titles and confirmed release dates; Our Little Secret and Hot Frosty will arrive on the streaming platform this November.

Although this is not Lacey Chabert’s first time starring in a Christmas film, it is her first time starring in a Netflix Original film. The actress is known for her various roles and devotion to the Hallmark Channel, especially Christmas films. Toplining the Netflix holiday rom-com, she will star alongside Dustin Milligan, Joe Lo Truglio and Craig Robinson. “So Fetch,” she commented on Netflix’s Instagram post.

The plot of Hot Frosty is as follows: two years after losing her husband, Cathy (Chabert) magically brings a handsome snowman to life. Adjusting to being a human, the snowman helps Cathy laugh, feel, and love again just in time for the holidays and before he melts. The film will premiere exclusively on November 13, the perfect way to get in the Christmas spirit.

Now, Lohan has starred in several Netflix films, such as Irish Wish and Falling for Christmas. It may not be her first rodeo with Netflix, but the Mean Girls star is making her long-awaited comeback in the film industry with other projects such as Disney’s Freakier Friday lined up. Her new Netflix film Our Little Secret is about two exes forced to spend Christmas under the same roof after discovering their current partners are siblings. A bit dramatic, but we will definitely be seated.

Also starring in the film are Ian Harding, Chris Parnell, and Wicked’s very own Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth. The film will stream on Netflix a bit closer to December, on November 27.

As excitement builds for Christmas and the holiday season, Netflix is here to save viewers with the perfect films to binge during Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Until then, check out other Netflix films to get in the holiday spirit here.
