Conan Gray announced a special vinyl edition of “Heather” to mark its fifth anniversary, a heartfelt tribute to the song that defined a generation.

This milestone for one of his most iconic tracks is more than a celebration of its success; it’s a gift to the fans who have been with the artist throughout his musical journey.

The vinyl, unveiled through Gray’s Instagram, features a unique twist that sent fans into a frenzy: the inclusion of the original, unedited lyrics. The Found Heaven performer wrote, “it’ll be the 5 annual heather day this year, so i thought i would make a little vinyl to celebrate— featuring heather with the lost verse, live from tour.”

The “Heather” singer sometimes performed these original lyrics during his recently concluded “Found Heaven” tour. The “original verse” that Gray refers to includes more vulnerable and self-reflective lines, including “I wish I could kiss her to know why you love her.”

Released in March 2020 as part of the artist’s album, Kid Krow, “Heather” became an anthem for younger generations. Its melody and heartfelt lyrics struck a chord with listeners worldwide, earning over 1.3 billion streams on Spotify to date. “Heather” sparked a movement on social media as users shared videos and posts relating to the song.

One of the main lines from the song “I still remember, third of December. Me in your sweater” also started a trend amongst “Coneheads.” On December 3, fans put on “Heather sweaters” as highlighted in the song. The artist even released a new line of merch tributing to his hit track.

The “Wish You Were Sober” performer reflects on the song that solidified his status as a generational voice by releasing this special edition vinyl. The fifth anniversary of “Heather” serves as a nod to the past and a reminder of the singer’s ability to translate his experiences into emotional songs.

For fans, this vinyl celebrates how far the artist has come. You can purchase the “Heather” vinyl with the original lyrics here.
