New Look at Jenna Ortega in Wednesday After Season 2 Production Wraps
Netflix teases Wednesday fans on social media after posting the first look of Jenna Ortega after production wraps up for season two.
The four-time Emmy-winning series is one step closer to returning to our screens. In May, production for season two began with returning cast members and new faces. On Wednesday, it was officially announced to the public that “The coffin has closed on Wednesday Season 2 production.”
The photo displays Ortega in costume as Wednesday Addams with her arms crossed, directly looking into the camera with a frown on her face. Around her, architecturally designed stone figures face Wednesday while carrying lanterns. The steps behind her are covered in leaves, which lead towards a gated area in the woods with an arch marking the entrance.
Showrunners and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar spoke out about what’s to be expected in the upcoming season. “This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complex as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries, propelling her headlong into another year at Nevermore,” they detailed to Tudum. “Season 2 will be delightfully dark, kooky, and mysterious,” explained the executives before clarifying, “If we told you why, Wednesday would kill us. So our lips are sealed.”
As exciting as the news is that production is finally over, it still doesn’t mean the season will be out sooner. Forbes referenced how long it took to release the first season, which ended filming on March 30, 2022, and was not released on Netflix until November 23, 2022. If season two goes as planned, it may make viewers wait approximately eight months for its release, which could be around the summer of 2025.
There is no doubt that season two might be as successful as season one. The first season spent 20 weeks in the Global Top 10 chart, reaching the Top 10 show in 93 countries. It also broke the record for “The most watched English-language show on Netflix in a single week,” which accounts for “411,290,000 hours of viewing in the seven days ending 4 December 2022,” examined by the Guinness World Records.
Not much information has been revealed about what is yet to come; until then, you can stream the first season of Wednesday on Netflix for a refresher.
