Shakira celebrated her birthday with a Grammy award for Best Latin Pop Album for her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

Shakira returned to the Grammys after 7 years since her last album and performed for the first time in 18 years. Her album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, was nominated alongside Anitta’s Funk Generation, Luis Fonsi’s El Viaje, Kenny García’s García, and Kali Uchis’s Orquídeas. The award-winning singer stated in an interview about her deeply personal album.

“When I wrote this album, I was going through my separation, but that wasn’t the only loss I was experiencing. Everything I feared that would happen to me happened to me. I had to find a way to put myself back together. Music played a super important role to transform all the pain, the anger, into something precious.”

The Colombian singer’s work and dedication through such a life-changing time were all worth it when Jennifer Lopez announced Las Mujeres Ya no Lloran won the Best Latin Pop Album award.

As she took to the stage to claim her much-deserved award, she announced, “I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved, you are worth it, and I will always fight with you. And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true she-wolves, so this is for you too. And I want to share this award with my kids, Milan and Sasha, who are here with me. I’m so proud of you guys, of your kind hearts. Thank you so much for supporting me the way you do. I love you.”

Fans commented in response to her speech, “Shakira delivered a musical era filled with culturally impactful and unapologetic moments. Every artist dreams of maintaining such relevance and breaking new ground 30 years into their career, but only a select few achieve it,” and “Once again queen Shakira raising her voice for the Latino community. She really is a one-of-a-kind artist.”

This is now Shakira’s fourth U.S. Grammy Award, in addition to her 15 Latin Grammys. Her music is available for streaming on all platforms.
