Season 27 of The Voice returned to NBC with a lineup of star-studded coaches and upcoming artists.

Coaches John Legend and Michael Bublé were joined by both a new and a returning coach in the red chairs. The series welcomed back Adam Levine, after departing in 2019.

The Maroon 5 frontman shared with E! News on his return to the Emmy Award-winning series, “I just felt like it was time. I had some time to reflect and do my thing and be with my family.”

Country singer and Grammy nominee, Kelsea Ballerini, also made her debut as a coach, although she had been a guest coach once in the past when she subbed for Kelly Clarkson in Season 15. Former coach and fellow country singer, Reba McEntire, left Ballerini a gift welcoming her new position as a coach.

McEntire, also known on The Voice as “Queen Reba,” left her crown for Ballerini and a handwritten letter that read, “Dear Kelsea, I heard you would be the new coach this season and I’m just so excited for you. It’s up to you to keep country alive on the show and I know you’ll do a terrific job. Now go out there and show those boys who’s the boss.”

“Those boys” are excited for Ballerini too, with Legend stating in the premiere, “She’s done our Comeback Stage. She filled in for Kelly Clarkson. She’s current and relevant and cool.”

Bublé also shared with E! News, “She was the rookie, but she [was] never rookie. She came in; she was well-spoken; she was articulate. She knew exactly what she was doing.”

The first episode of the new season introduces eleven contestants, including a familiar face or two.

The season 27 contestants are as follows:
