Prince Jackson Makes New Appearance at MJ: The Musical Opening Night in Sydney

Prince Jackson celebrated his father’s legacy by making a surprise appearance at the opening night showing of MJ: The Musical at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney on March 8. 

he King of Pop’s son appeared pleased to be in attendance for the big night as he walked the red carpet and posed for photos in a snazzy navy blue pinstripe suit. The musical he attended is based on the life of his father, Michael Jackson, and tells the story of his creative process and preparation for the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. The production premiered on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre on December 6, 2021, and opened in London’s West End in 2024.

Prince Jackson’s attendance comes a year after he and his siblings Paris Jackson (26) and Bigi Jackson (23) attended the show’s London premiere. Before this appearance on July 1, 2024, Prince Jackson announced a new event in honor of his father on Instagram , titled This Is Thriller. The event is set to be held at the Palace Theater in Los Angeles every five years in celebration of the pop icon’s hit song. 

“We are thrilled to announce an upcoming event this October (10/26), This is Thriller, taking place at the iconic Palace Theatre,” his caption explained “Thriller Night will take place every five years. The next Thriller Night will be in 2027 to celebrate Thriller’s forty-fifth anniversary.” 

The 28-year-old also paid tribute to his dad on the fifteen year anniversary of his death by sharing a photo on his Instagram story of the late singer’s performance during the 1993 Super Bowl XXVII halftime show.

Additionally, the upcoming biopic Michael will bring Michael Jackson’s legacy to the big screen. The feature film stars the superstar’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, the son of Micheal Jackson’s brother Jermaine Jackson. 

According to the film’s synopsis, ‘Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop. The highly anticipated picture will hit theaters on October 3.
