SNL: Two Guest Hosts Return and New Mickey Madison Debut

Disney/Kelsey McNeal

Saturday Night Live season 50 keeps on giving. The sketch comedy has shared the lineup for its next three episodes, including Mikey Madison, Jack Black, and John Hamm. In addition, SNL has also acquired returning veterans as musical guests.

Fresh off winning the Oscar for Best Leading Actress in a Motion Picture, Anora star Mikey Madison will make her SNL debut on March 29 and country music singer Morgan Wallen will perform.

Wallen is a returning act; he last performed on SNL season 46 in 2020. He was initially set to perform two months earlier, but this was canceled due to controversy. This time, he will perform songs from his upcoming album, I’m the Problem.

The SNL Veteran Hosts

While Madison is a newcomer, Jack Black is a veteran of the Saturday Night Live stage. April 5 will be his fourth time hosting; his last three hosting gigs were in 2002, 2003, and 2005. This time around the block, he hosts to promote his new film, A Minecraft Movie.

While Black hosts, singer-songwriters Elton John and Brandi Carlile will perform two tracks from their upcoming album, Who Believes in Angels?, which releases April 4. Both have been on SNL as solo musical performers. John first performed on SNL back in 1982 alongside host Johnny Cash. He returned to do double duty as host and musical guest in 2011.

Likewise, Carlile performed in 2021 with SNL alum Jason Sudeikis as a host and in 2022 where Steve Martin and Martin Short co-hosted.

Identical to Black, Hamm will also return to host SNL for the fourth time. He hosted the late-night comedy in 2008, and twice in 2010.

Could the exclusive Five-Timers Club have two new members on the way?

But wait, here comes another fourth-timer. Lizzo has done it all on SNL: a debut in 2019, another guest appearance in 2022, and another in 2022, this time pulling double duty. She will perform her new single, “Still Bad,” from her fourth studio album, Love in Real Life.

Wow, four returns, a fourth studio album, four must be a lucky number over at Rockefeller Center.
