Brandi Carlile Delivered Stunning New Performances on SNL

Brandi Carlile returned to the iconic SNL stage to perform “The Story” and “You and Me on the Rock” ft. Lucius on December 10. The production was co-hosted by Only Murders in the Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Carlile kicked off SNL and brought back fond memories with “The Story,” her hit song from her second studio album released in 2007. When discussing her reason for choosing this song, she states “For some reason, it just felt right to play The Story… ending this year honoring our younger selves. Maybe it’s in deep gratitude…. or maybe it’s because I finally do have some lines on my face. Either way thanks for giving us that gift SNL I will never forget it.”
Carlile is no stranger to nostalgia. After making her SNL debut in October 2021, she shared a throwback picture from her 2018 SNL appearance. She writes, “ONE DAY we’ll get there man! Dreams come true every day.”
Carlile’s second performance showcased a rendition of “You and Me on the Rock.” The song appears on the singer’s Grammy-nominated record, In These Silent Days. Carlile is nominated in a whopping seven categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Americana Performance, Best Americana Roots Song, Best Americana Album, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Performance.
