The Weeknd Unveils Thrilling New Trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow

The Weeknd took CinemaCon by storm, presenting a new trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow, and of course, couldn’t leave without putting on a smashing performance.
ICYMI: Hurry Up Tomorrow follows The Weeknd, soon to go by Abel Tesfaye, as he portrays a fictionalized version of himself. As he becomes plagued with insomnia, Anima, portrayed by Jenna Ortega, creepily stumbles into his life and tries to “save” him.

The new trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow offers a deeper look into the film’s psychological intensity. It opens with Anima dousing The Weeknd’s couches and home in gasoline, all in the name of “fixing him.”
“I know this is all really intense, but I’m not trying to hurt you. You were hurting yourself, and you were hurting everyone around you. Somebody has to change,” she states.

As the tension builds, audiences witness the singer’s emotional unraveling to the point where Barry Keoghan’s character pointedly tells him, “I love you, bro, but for the love of God, you need to relax.” His words are met with the singer’s tear-filled eyes, hinting at the film’s haunting emotional depth.
For XO fans, there’s one major moment that sticks out. The artist runs out of the room in a panic, to which the camera cuts to his phone, with text messages from his security team and a news notification that reads, “The Weeknd Cuts Concert Short, ‘I lost my voice…I’m so sorry’” which is similar to the headlines that surfaced in 2022.

During the SoFi Stadium concert on his “After Hours ‘Til Dawn” tour, the singer lost his voice at the top of the performance, causing him to cut the night short. Calling his voice a “secret weapon,” losing it shook him, and made him rethink everything.
“I knew that I really needed to sit the f*** down and figure out my life…To understand what happened, face it, learn something new, and start again. I’d had a kind of mental breakdown,” he told Variety.
This will be the singer’s first acting stint since his limited series The Idol, which unfortunately was met with less-than-stellar reviews. However, based on the visuals and early rumblings, the film looks to be an impressive comeback for The Weeknd.
Hurry Up Tomorrow hits theatres May 16. Check out the trailer below.
