Role Model Brings Out Reneé Rapp and Others for New L.A. Concerts
We “heard through the grapevine” that Reneé Rapp was Role Model’s “Sally” for night two of his Los Angeles performances. The singer-songwriter and actress followed “diva” Dylan Minnette, who joined Role Model on stage night one.
On his “No Place Like” tour, Tucker Pillsbury, who performs under the stage name Role Model, brings out special guests to dance with him to his song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” For his first performance in L.A., fans were overjoyed to see 13 Reasons Why actor and Wallows singer Dylan Minnette run onto the stage.

L.A. night two, “hotter than a fever” Reneé Rapp, known for her pop music and role in The Sex Lives of College Girls, danced it out as the night’s “Sally.” Fans loved to see the surprising but fun and lively duo.

Role Model also brought out contemporary jazz singer Laufey to sing “The Longest Goodbye” with him, this being his first duet on tour.
As fans have noted, the song sounds similar to the soundtrack of Toy Story. Laufey posted a video of them singing together on Instagram with the caption, “this was a scene straight out of toy story. thank you @rolemodel for having me. i love this song so much.”
On his tour so far, Tucker has also brought out influencer Jake Shane, YouTubers Martin and Hamzah, also known as SlushyNoobz on YouTube, singer-songwriter Ashe, and internet personality Ky Newman. However, “Sallys” are not always celebrities. In Ohio, Tucker’s “Sally” was a fan who came to the concert to celebrate being cancer-free.
Role Model has seen a rise in popularity since the release of his newest album Kansas Anymore. His songs are used all over TikTok and videos of his concerts are going viral on X.
Pillsbury’s most recent success can be attributed, in part, to his opening act for Gracie Abrams’ most recent “The Secret Of Us” tour. Additionally, his interview on Jake Shane’s podcast Therapuss gained him a new audience who loved his personality and witty dynamic with the host.
However, Role Model’s rise in popularity can also be due to the message of Kansas Anymore. On the daily podcast Q with Tom Power, Pillsbury reveals that the album is about navigating relationships through tough times. He explains his thinking at the time he made the album as, “Yes, I’m in love, but what am I doing with my life? I’m not happy [in L.A.], what does that mean?… Mix that with homesickness and that relationship falling apart through all of this stuff.”
As Role Model wraps up his sold-out L.A. concerts, his relatability to being lost, homesick, in love, and heartbroken is what is ultimately fueling his rise to fame. The way he navigates through life experiences is why there is an ever-growing population of “Sallys,” willing to get up and dance through life’s toughest situations.
