Actress and singer Reneé Rapp (Leighton Murray) shared some BTS footage on her TikTok. In a “Pass the Phone” challenge on set, Rapp and other beloved Essex characters shared their hilarious opinions of one another. “I’m gonna pass the phone to someone who claims to be straight but is actually my girlfriend,” Rapp joked as she passed the phone to Alyah Chanelle Scott (Whitney Chase).

On Dec. 7, 2021, HBO Max officially renewed the series for a second season. After an emotional finale filled with breakups, cheating, lies, and scandal, Season 2 is bound to bring the drama. Roommates Leighton, Whitney, Bela (Amrit Kaur), and Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) will return for the series’ new installment. However, Leighton’s brother Nico (Gavin Leatherwood) unfortunately will not.

“It was such an incredible experience. I think Mindy is brilliant, and the cast, everyone’s lovely,” Leatherwood told Us Weekly. “But with so many amazing opportunities out there, we want to keep spreading our wings and leading ourselves to other projects, so that’s the move.”

While the Season 2 release date is currently unknown, it will most likely debut this fall (similar to Season 1). In the meantime, you can stream the first season on HBO Max.
