Lorde Teases Her New Era
Lorde released a snippet of a new single on TikTok, and fans are ecstatic.
Four years since her latest album, Solar Power, Lorde is getting ready for her new era.
Since then, she has released a cover of the Talking Heads’ “Take Me to the River” on their tribute album last year, Everyone’s Getting Involved. She alluded that being a part of the album helped her with her next project.
“Stepping away from my own project for a couple ended up giving me a HUGE piece of the puzzle. Had just gone dark, was feeling returned to, masc n femme in balance, electrified and at peace. Ty for listening,,,,Magic To Come,” she posted to her Instagram Story.
The “Royals” singer has been teasing the new era for a while now with various cryptic posts, including one captioned in almost hieroglyphics. In late 2023, Lorde replied to a fan, “Start ur excitement on a low flame and bring it up to a gentle simmer..we building stamina for this chapter.”
This past Brat summer, she broke the internet with Charli xcx on the iconic “Girl, so confusing” collaboration on the remix album Brat but it’s completely different.
Earlier this year, she teased fans by posting a video of herself headbanging in her studio while holding a water bottle with the audio muted on her Instagram Story.
On Wednesday, she wiped her Instagram feed and changed her profile picture to an image of a close-up of the same water bottle from her muted video. The Grammy Award winner’s website is also completely blank.
Lorde posted to TikTok for the first time, where she was shown walking in Washington Square Park, New York. She sings in the snippet, “Since I was seventeen / I gave you everything. / Now we wake from a dream. / Well, baby, what was that? / What was that?”
She posted the first comment from the TikTok to her Instagram Story, which stated, “WAIT WHAT?????”
The snippet has a similar sound to that of her two earlier albums, Pure Heroine and Melodrama.
Fans are ecstatic in anticipation for Lorde’s new era. One fan posted, “need that new lorde album ASAP to tell me what im thinking/feeling/doing in the next chapter of my life…she always knows…she always sees…”
