‘Black-ish’ Actress Marsai Martin to Produce Her Own Film
Black-ish‘s Marsai Martin is turning out to be quite the “little” boss.
Marsai Martin is set to star in a Universal comedy titled, Little. The film will be Martin’s first studio feature that she will also executive produce. The comedy centers on a “woman who gets the chance to relive the carefree life as her younger self (Martin), when the pressures of adulthood become too much.”
The 13-year-old actress currently stars on Black-ish as Diane Johnson, the gifted daughter of Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) and Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson), who often speaks without a filter. Martin recently won a NAACP Image Award for the role at the 2018 NAACP Image Awards.
The idea from which the screenplay is based on also comes from Martin. Drumline scripter Tina Gordon is attached to the film as its director and has written the most recent draft of the script. The film will be produced by Will Packer Productions, who recently produced Girls Trip. Black-ish creator, Kenya Barris will also join them on the project. Girls Trip actress, Regina Hall will join Martin as an executive producer, along with Josh Martin.
Marsai Martin is definitely on track to making herself a legend.
