NBC’s ‘World of Dance’ Winners Are a Crew from Mumbai, India
World of Dance wraps up this week with a crew called “The Kings” taking home the title of best dancers in the world.
The reality competition series premiered this February, and The Kings were up against 45 other international competitors.
This year’s competition has been tough. Derek Hough, a WOD judge, said during the early filming of the show, “In season three we are raising the bar on so many different levels.”
Dancers had to receive a score of 85% or higher to qualify for the show, which is a score some of the earlier contestants of WOD did not make. The Kings started out strong with a qualifying score of 97.7%. This high score would become a pattern as the team would not drop below 90% for the remainder of the show.
The King’s style of dance was an interesting blend of American breakdancing and Indian dance. The team would often mix up the styles, sometimes doing American dance to Indian music. It was like watching a Bollywood hip-hop act.

The competition was tough this season. There were professional dancers like Charlize Glass, a former member of 8 Flavahz that were runners up of the seventh season of MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”, and many other contestants already famous around the world for their dancing.
However, the Kings’ skills outshined all because by the end of the competition they won with a finishing score of 100%. The highest final score in WOD history.
