Taylor Swift Releases Her New LGBTQ Pride Anthem
Taylor Swift shows her support as an ally with a new song all about pride.
Taylor Swift is a well-known ally of the LGBTQ community. Earlier this year she donated $113,000 to the Tennessee Equality Project, a non-profit foundation that is all about fighting anti-LGBTQ legislation.
Swift’s support for the community doesn’t seem to stop there as she had created a song just in time to play at all your pride celebrations this month. The song is titled “You Need to Calm Down”. She released the song last week on Thursday before her performance at Stonewall for Jesse Tyler Ferguson. She also dropped teasers on social media of the new music video for the song.
The post she has made so far have all been very colorful. Rainbow confetti cake, a table set for what looks like a fun tea party, and a crown of jewels. But the post that has gotten people talking the most is the cover art for the song she released. It’s an almost cryptic photo of Swift with her back turned to the camera to show off a giant back tattoo with butterflies and what looks like possibly a serpent.
