Prince William and Kate Middleton just competed against each other in an Inaugural regatta. The King’s Cup is a new yacht race event that they created with the hope that it will occur annually. Everyone who raced did so for a cause that they support. For instance, Kate Middleton was raising awareness for The Royal Foundations’s Early Years Programme and Prince William was representing Child Bereavement UK.

The winner may surprise you: Bear Grylls, the famous survival TV actor known for Man vs. Wild, took first place while representing Tusk, an organization dedicated to wildlife conservation across Africa. He was one of the several other celebrities partaking in the adventure.

Prince William took third place and Kate Middleton was unfortunately disqualified for departing a bit too early.

The race took place in Cowes, Isle of Wright.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hope that The King’s Cup regatta can continue to happen every year, giving sports enthusiasts a chance to partake in the race, a clever combination of sportsmanship and philanthropy.
