Chance the Rapper Talks Marriage and Family + Performs “Eternal” With Smino on Ellen
Grammy Award-winning musician, who recently released his highly anticipated debut album this past July, made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Instead of discussing his debut album, The Big Day, he opened up about his marriage and family life. He shares about his one-week daughter, Marli Grace, and goes on to recount his longtime love story with his wife Kirsten Corley Bennet. Chance went into detail on how he first met Kirsten when he was just nine years old at his mom’s office Christmas party. He first shared about how he met and fell in love with his wife in a series of tweets in March, just two days before their wedding day.
Ellen then sheds light on Chance’s philanthropic efforts and the several donations he has pledged to help Chicago youth. Chance goes on to reveal that the inspiration behind his charity work is due to his Christian faith.
After Chance discusses his heart-warming family news, Ellen gifts Chance with matching overalls and hats for his whole family. Ellen then surprises him with a plaque honoring his mixtape, Coloring Book, surpassing 1.5 billion streams on Spotify.
Before his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show was over, Chance delivered a Motown-inspired choreographed performance of “Eternal”, from his debut album, alongside special guest rapper, Smino.
