Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, Billy Porter Will Play Fluid Fairy Godmother in New ‘Cinderella’

Rick Rowell/ABC

The iconic Billy Porter announced he will play a genderless Fairy Godmother in the Cinderella remake.

This is the Disney movie live-action remake we have been waiting for and is set to be released in February of 2021.

Camila Cabello will star as Cinderella alongside Nicolas Galitzine as Prince Robert. The two will star alongside other renowned celebs like James Corden, Missy Elliot, Minnie Driver, John Mulaney, Ramesh Ranganathan, Idina Menzel and Pierce Brosnan. This movie will be extra magical with a cast like this, to say the least.

hello!!!! usually when I take these breaks from social media, it’s cause I need some space or time away from it – I think it’s healthy to know when you need time for yourself- that’s been my biggest thing I’ve worked on this year so far is to listen to my intuition and what my mind and body need!!!! When I feel overwhelmed or overstimulated I’m like…. ok I need to give myself a little room to slow down. but I miss and love you guys!!!! I’m in London right now working on Cinderella and I’m having the time of my life TBH 🥺 here’s a picture behind the scenes of a music video that’s coming out very very soon… how are you guys doing?! How’s life!! How are your hearts! I’ll read some of the comments and reply 💕💕💕💕💕💕

Billy Porter offered all of us a breath of fresh air by revealing that he will play the Fairy Godmother as genderless, describing it as the classic fairytale, but for a new generation proving that magic has no gender.

Porter is the first openly gay Emmy winner and continues to be a gender-fluid role model for the LGBTQ+ community. With Porter’s reinvention of the Fairy Godmother, it will hopefully set up a pattern to remove these standards in the film industry.

We can not wait for next year’s return of Cinderella and how the modern movie will break social norms. Keep slaying Billy.
