Put on Your Cap and Gown for Facebook’s Virtual Graduation
Facebook is having a virtual graduation ceremony to honor the Class of 2020 who is missing out on their graduation.
Graduations have been canceled all over the country leaving many seniors disappointed they will not get a formal send-off from their college. There has been a trend going around on Facebook where people posted their graduation photos in honor of the Class of 2020 and the company noticed. Facebook announced they will be holding a virtual graduation ceremony on May 5 at 11 a.m. EST.
Facebook has revealed that the commencement speaker will be Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey has given speeches at many college graduations in the past from Harvard University to Agnes Scott College. Other celebrities will be joining Winfrey to provide words of wisdom including Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner, Lil Nas X, and Simone Biles. Miley Cyrus will also be joining as the musical guest.

The social media platform is also allowing people to host their own graduation event for friends and family. There are new special features such as a virtual graduation hub, custom filters, and celebrations enabled by Messenger Rooms.
