Check out Jake Gyllenhaal’s Virtual Musical Serenade
The viral monologue series, The 24 Hour Plays, just released a bonus track starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
On Friday, a bonus track called “Across the Way” was released starring Jake Gyllenhaal. The actor sang a musical piece written for him by Tony-winning Fun Home composer Jeanine Tesori and Rabbit Hole playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. The 24 Hour Plays was started in March as a response to the coronavirus pandemic. As the name implies, the four-and-a-half minute song was written and recorded in a 24-hour window.
The performance was posted on Instagram and was captioned as “a love song in the age of quarantine.”
Throughout the musical number, Gyllenhaal sings about how “60 feet never felt so close yet so far away.” The song includes humorous lyrics such as “Day 32, I washed my hands, you made a cornish hen / Day 36 you sewed a mask, I washed my hands again.”
The video was more than well received by fans and some are even anticipating the actor’s musical debut to secure him an Academy Award.
